Today, the new trend is Ceramic Coatings, which are much more durable and can last 6 months-7+years depending on prep and which coating is applied. Ceramic Coatings can be applied to leather, vinyl, paint, wheels, trim, glass, etc. for the ultimate barrier against the elements! Ceramic Coatings are composed of silicon dioxide(SiO2), which is sourced from natural materials such as quartz and sand to form a hardened, protective layer. When applied, it creates a semi-permanent, nanoscopic, chemical bond with hydrophobic, aka water repellent, properties which allows dirt to run off easily, keeping your car cleaner for longer. The purpose of any protective coating is to shield your car from as much wear and tear caused by daily driving, especially if you park outside. The paint of your car is constantly being attacked by airborne contaminates, ultra-violet rays from the sun, unpredictable nature, and much more.. Black trim starts to fade and become chalky.. Your wheels collect brake dust, tar, and road contaminates.. Glass collects iron contaminates, preventing rain from easily running off which reduces visibility.. and leather starts to crack, fade, and rip over time due to UV damage and regular wear. A ceramic coating not only helps prevent this over the long term, but exceeds the protection of a sealant, helping to minimize minor scratches and swirling that kill the look of your vehicle over time.
